硝化菌(好氧菌)、脫氮菌(厭氧菌)、光合菌(Nitrifying bacteria (aerobic bacteria), denitrifying bacteria (anaerobes), photosynthetic bacteria)

(1)去氨硝化菌能將魚類所排放的氨轉成毒性較小的亞硝酸鹽,而去亞硝酸硝化菌則負責將亞硝酸鹽再轉成毒性更小的硝酸鹽,硝酸鹽必須由換水的方式移除,像硝化細菌這類的細菌再作用時需要消耗水中的氧氣所以也稱好氧菌.
*大量硝化菌的生長,會造成硝化菌及魚隻增奪氧氣,水缸的氧氣一減少,魚隻會浮頭,而硝化菌也會大量死亡,此時應該要加強打氣,提高溶氧量,一般這種情況,都是加入大量的硝化菌才比較容易發生.
良好的生化系統(硝化菌)將氨→分解成亞硝酸鹽→再次分解成硝酸鹽→硝酸鹽累積→PH下降→更換水質
(2)脫氮菌(厭氧菌),能將硝酸鹽轉成氮氣再排出水缸外,如此兩組循環便可構成一個完整的生物過濾,不過,此厭氧菌很難在水缸中生活,因為厭氧菌的特性是生長或繁殖時,並不需要處於含氧氣的環境下,而絕對厭氧菌則無法存活於有氧環境,需人工添加,過濾水流要慢才能培養.
(3)光合菌是透過光合作用產生的細菌,主要功能為除臭,降低有機質含量及去除硫化氫.
1) Removing ammonia nitrify would let the ammonia emission of goldfish turned to the lower toxicity nitrates.  And, the removing nitrous acid would let the nitrates turned again to lowest toxicity nitrates. The changing water could be able to remove nitrates.  When the nitrobacteria are become working, the oxygen consumption would be necessary, thus these nitrobacteria are known as good bacterium.
  *** The larger growth of nitrobacteria would become the competing for oxygen with goldfish. So, when the water quality is become low oxygen, the goldfish head would be floating on the water, and a great deal of nitrobacteria would become death. Under this circumstance, the oxygen should be raised up by adding a stronger air pump instantly.  But, this kind of condition would only occurred when a great deal of nitrobacteria are added into the water.
*** The good biochemical system (nitrobacteria) turns oxygen to à nitrates à then turns again to nitrates à the accumulation of nitrates à PH becomes down à the time to change water.
2) Anaerobic bacteria would turn the nitrates to nitrogen gas and put it off to outside tank. This circulation easily constitutes a complete biological filtering (oxidation). However, the anaerobic bacteria is not easy to exist in the water, because, the anaerobic bacteria is not able to live in oxygen environment.  Only the slow water filtering with hand by hand could be able to nurture this kind of bacterium.
3) The phototroph bacteria are produced by Photosynthesis, the main function of this bacterium is deodorization, reduce the organic stuffs and remove the sulfide hydrogen.
